Center Gai, or Sentagai, is a short pedestrian street in Shibuya that's famous throughout Japan. It tends to attract various subcultures such as Gyaru who view the street as the center of their scene. It's a generally youth oriented area. Many locals over 30 years of age will admit that they avoid the street. In recent years, the street attracts many photographers. Shibuya Crossing at the entrance to Center Gai is amongst the most photogenic spots in Japan. The name of the street, Sentagai or センター街, means "center street." Many people consider it the center of Shibuya. However, Shibuya is a large neighborhood with many large streets that branch off from Shibuya Station in every direction. Sentagai isn't necessarily the center.
