If journalistic vagary hadn't stripped "seminal" and "genre-defining" of all descriptive impact, they'd be just the words for Jack Dangers' flagship audio outlet Meat Beat Manifesto. In the late 80's and early 90's, Jack was already constructing and warping beats into rhythmic elements that have since been stylistically tagged "trip-hop," "jungle" and "breakbeat." And just when a generation of ersatz dubsters adopted his collagist conventions, Jack Dangers characteristically changed modes with his most recent studio invention Actual Sounds + Voices, a Meat Beat Manifesto album whose live jam canvas refracted studio technique as anything but stark.

Since then, Jack has co-founded the label Tino Corp. with Ben Stokes (DHS; H-Gun Productions) for which they co-produced the Tino's Breaks series. He has also played producer and mixer for Bay Area turntablist recording collective, Future Primitive Sound. As Meat Beat Manifesto, Jack Dangers now returns with four new stunning soundscapes.

sputnik7 is proud to be the exclusive distributor of Meat Beat Manifesto's Eccentric Objects, a unique limited edition vinyl EP packaged with the bonus 9" flexidisc "Sounds of the 20th Century." This edition of 1000 numbered copies features hand-printed cover art: the first 250 individually crafted by Jack Dangers and the remainder silk-screened in four different versions. 100 random copies are signed by Jack. Since receiving our much-coveted advance album copy, sputnik7's Mahattan office has discovered hours (fine, weeks) of pure listening bliss and productivity-impairing distraction. sputnik7 is sincerely thrilled to present Eccentric Objects to MBM's audience.

Bio
Since forming in 1987, Meat Beat Manifesto has been the brainchild of Jack Dangers—making music by cutting and pasting pop culture samples and combining them with hip-hop beats, dub grooves and noise rock to create sweeping up-tempo protest soundscapes. His constantly evolving musical invention has generated a long string of futuristic classics, including "God O.D.," "Strap Down," "Psyche Out," "Helter Skelter," "Radio Babylon," "Edge of No Control" and "It's the Music." With Actual Sounds + Voices, Dangers augmented his studio palette by drafting famed Herbie Hancock alumni Bennie Maupin and Dr. Pat Gleeson for a marathon studio jam that provided the album's live elements. The album single "Prime Audio Soup" has been featured in the sci-fi fantasy blockbuster The Matrix and on the film's platinum soundtrack.

Long regarded as a groundbreaking visionary, Jack Dangers continues to stretch sonic boundaries and influence new generations of sound activists. He has likewise been celebrated for his remixing/production of artists including: Public Enemy, David Bowie, The Orb, Nine Inch Nails, Coil and David Byrne.

Jack is currently working on the next Meat Beat Manifesto album with MBM veteran, drummer Lynn Farmer.
